Cricket match between Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Birmingham Bears had a shocking accident at Edgbaston.
In the match, the 28-year-old star of Nottinghamshire – Luke Fletcher mixed “serve” towards Sam Hain (21 years old) of Birmingham Bears. Sam Hain then used the ball to swing the ball very hard, unfortunately the ball went at a speed of 80 km per hour and hit Luke Fletcher in the face. Because the distance between the two players was too close, Luke Fletcher could not react and received the ball in the face.
Luke Fletcher immediately collapsed onto the field. The referee and the players present on the field quickly asked the medical team to immediately come into the yard to take care of Luke Fletcher.
Luke Fletcher’s teammates after seeing the injury of Luke Fletcher covered their faces, holding their heads in panic. Fletcher’s teammate, England national player Samit Patel, even burst into tears when he saw the traumatic image.
Luke Fletcher then boarded an ambulance and headed straight to nearby Queen Elizabeth Hospital. British star Jake Ball then uploaded a picture of Fletcher in an ambulance with his thumbs up on Twitter, reassuring everyone that he was okay.
This game had to postpone up to 45 minutes for the players to recover and then continue to play.
Nottingham Pipe expert James Pipe said: “It looks like he’ll be fine but we have to keep watching him very closely, like we did during last night. I want to thank all the people. took care of Fletcher at the Edgbaston yard. They were very supportive and couldn’t do it better. The staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital was also great.”
Fletcher’s injuries during the match recalled another horrific accident about the deaths of Australian Cricket player Phillip Hughes in 2014. Phillip Hughes was also hit by the ball and left forever two days later.
